Call for Abstracts & First Circular

Welcome to the 7th international symposium on Submarine Mass Movements and Their Consequences. We are delighted to bring the symposium to Wellington, the cultural and scientific capital of New Zealand.

We warmly invite you to submit an abstract to contribute to the conference volume by 30 September 2014. Submission of an abstract signifies your intention to publish a paper in the highly regarded book series for the Submarine Mass Movements and Their Consequences Symposium. An example of the book can be viewed here.

Publication of a paper in this will also give you the option of an oral presentation at the conference. An abstract call for poster presentations will be made closer to the conference date.

Conference themes include:

- Fluids in slope instability
- Geotechnical aspects of mass movement
- Failure dynamics from landslide geomorphology
- Tsunami generation from slope failure
- Mass transport deposits in outcrop
- Innovative techniques for studying mass movements
- Earthquakes and submarine slope instabilities: preconditioning, triggering and paleo- seismology
- Monitoring mass failure processes
